Civil Fraud
Civil fraud and asset tracing forms a significant proportion of Justin’s practice. He acts in domestic disputes as well as those with an international or offshore element.
He appeared as junior counsel in Takhar v Gracefield Developments Ltd [2024] EWHC 1714 (Ch) (led by Tom Graham), a wide-ranging case involving deceit, conspiracy, undue influence, issue estoppel, limitation, witness immunity, trusts, and remedies, where he was recognised for his “high quality” and “erudite submissions on the law”, and for drafting “a powerful riposte under time pressure.”
He was sole counsel in the case of BDG Financial Services Limited & Ors v Procap Assets (BDG GS Action) & Ors (2018, unrep.), a claim against a Belize company and its director alleging fraudulent breach of trust and breach of fiduciary duty in relation to financial trading losses. The claim was struck out, and Justin’s client was subsequently awarded £6 million after the wrongful granting of a freezing order.
As well as appearing at trial and at interim hearings (including for urgent injunctive relief and contesting jurisdiction), Justin has a substantial paper practice advising on liability, quantum, recovery and enforcement. He also drafts statements of case.

Justin specialises in commercial litigation, civil fraud, company law and insolvency. He is a member of the Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR) and the Chancery Bar Association (ChBA).
Justin is an experienced High Court advocate. He appears in the Commercial Court, the Chancery Division and the King’s Bench Division at trial and at interim hearings, including urgent applications for injunctions (including freezing and proprietary injunctions) and other interim remedies.
