Mr Dowell has particular expertise in divorce and family finance and TOLATA cases, many involving high-value assets and personal wealth, family businesses and substantial property interests. In addition to being instructed by solicitors, he represents clients direct in ancillary relief proceedings via public access.

Mr Dowell has extensive experience in lengthy and complex care proceedings, representing the interests of parents, children via their guardian and the local authority. He often acts in fact finding and disposal hearings in cases involving drug and alcohol abuse of parents. This includes issues as to the rehabilitation of parents, special guardianship orders, adoption orders and applications. He has considerable experience in drafting Threshold Agreements and associated documentation and he often advises on risk assessment. Many of his cases are brought before the High Court. He also has considerable experience in cases involving child abduction.
