Olamide Ogunrinade

Olamide specialises in family law with an emphasis on all areas that relate to children in public and private law matters.

Care and adoption proceedings

Olamide’s practice involves care proceedings under the Children Act 1989 and adoption proceedings under the Adoption and Children Act 2002. She provides representation from initial application through to multi-day fact-finding and final hearings where parents are facing allegations of unreasonable chastisement, neglect, abuse, non-accidental injury; or where there are concerns about a parent’s mental health and drug/alcohol use. She has represented clients where paternity has been called into question and any subsequent applications to declare their parentage.

Olamide has represented parents seeking leave to oppose the adoption and at fully contested hearings where they have successfully obtained leave to oppose the making of adoption orders. She also has experience with applications for secure accommodation.

Olamide has spent some time in-house at a local authority, giving her in-depth knowledge of the workings of children's services and informing her representation of parents.

Private children’s law

Olamide is instructed in cases where there are disputes about where children should live and how much contact they should have with a non-resident parent, prohibited steps and specific issue orders.

She provides representation in cases involving allegations of domestic abuse, physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and where there is a need to appoint an r16.4 Guardian. In a recent case, Olamide successfully sought a barring order preventing a party from making any further applications in respect of contact until the child attains the age of 16 pursuant to section 91(14) of the Children’s Act 1989.

Domestic Abuse

Olamide regularly represents clients in Family Law Act 1996 proceedings, including matters involving allegations of serious domestic abuse. She has experience in seeking or responding to applications for non- molestation orders and occupation orders through to fact-finding hearings and fully contested final hearings.

Divorce & Family Finance

Olamide is developing a practice in the area of matrimonial finance. She has represented parties at FDA’s, FDR’s, and Final Hearings. She successfully represented a party seeking to enforce an order to sell the matrimonial home which had not been complied with for nearly a decade.
