Some 84,000 women over a period of 18 months were discriminated against on the grounds of maternity or pregnancy and lost their jobs as a result. This figure comes from research by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, quoted in an article by the Financial Times.
The study also found that three in four working mothers (77 per cent) endured “negative or discriminatory treatment at work”.
