Alexander Bunzl

I have a wide-ranging practice in contractual disputes. I have defended a production company which was sued for breach of contract and have advised clients on bringing an action against a wedding venue. I am instructed in costs disputes, having represented a pop artist in an application to set aside a default costs certificate. I was junior counsel to a KC in a successful appeal relating to unjust enrichment and the enforceability of a contract. I also am instructed in cases brought under the Consumer Credit Act.

My approach

I will always strive to achieve your objectives while providing clear and frank advice. I am responsive and usually complete work within 48-hours.

My work

Recent cases:

Glaser & Anor v Atay [2023] EWHC 2539 (KB)

In this appeal, the Appellant/Defendant successfully argued the Claimants were not entitled to quantum meruit for work they had not undertaken. The payment term was unenforceable, running contrary to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 2015. I was junior counsel.

Santander Consumer (UK) PLC v Reut [2023]

The Claimant sued the Defendant for purchasing a second-hand car in circumstances where the original buyer had not paid off the finance. I acted for the Defendant, persuading the Court that his client was a purchaser of the motor vehicle in good faith, who did so without notice of the conditional sale agreement.

About me

I am regularly instructed in commercial, property and divorce cases. My work includes breaches of contract, landlord & tenant litigation, and complex disputes over real estate. I frequently appear in the County Court as well as the Senior Courts and have won multiple appeals. Outside of practice, I lecture on cruises about history.
