I am a barrister with more than 20 years of experience in Immigration, Asylum and Human Rights Law. I am a member of 3 Bolt Court Chambers in London which specialises in Direct (Public) Access work, so I am well-equipped with a good administrative team as support.
Called to the Bar in 1997, I started my career as a criminal barrister. I have now built a common law practice which encompasses Immigration, Asylum & Human Rights Law. My immigration work includes Asylum, Articles 2, 3 & 8 of the ECHR, EEA Law, Deception, Deportation, Marriages of Convenience, PBS and TOEIC appeals. I have appeared on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Home Department in the First-tier and Upper Immigration Tribunals which has given me a unique ability to see both sides of the arguments.
I appear in every type of case in the First-Tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, High Court and Court of Appeal - from Student and Visitor applications, right the way through to the most complex Asylum and Deportation appeals. A large component of my daily work is representing clients with Human Rights appeals, which covers a very broad spectrum of work.
I am renowned for being an approachable advocate and for my meticulous preparation and tenacity in court.
My approach
Fees
I am committed to public access because I believe that very often the best interests of clients are served with careful attention and care from the outset and it’s also more affordable for the client.
My fees are very competitive and I am always happy to have an initial friendly and non-committal telephone conversation with you at no charge. That is so that I can see if I can help.
If you decide to instruct me I will arrange a consultation (called a conference) where we can meet online or in person. That will usually last between an hour and two hours. I will then be able to take your full instructions, offer you my advice and speak about the next steps that need to be taken - and hopefully put your mind at ease! I will also let you know what the likely costs of any action will be.
My fee for the conference is £250.
My Commitment
My career as a specialist barrister and my experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mean that I bring a level of professionalism and maturity to all my clients. I fully understand just how important the case is for you. I fight hard for my clients but I am also aware of the bigger picture and possible alternatives and I will take time to ensure that I advise you of the most efficient, cost-effective and simple pathway to the outcome you want.
About me
I was joint head of chambers at 3 Bolt Court chambers from 2018 to 2024. Whilst head of chambers, I retained complete integrity and devotion to the service of my clients and fellow members of chambers. I am committed to facilitating access to justice.
In addition, I am an accredited civil and commercial mediator. I am also a trained conflict coach, and a community mediator. I regularly volunteer with the Society of Mediators Free Mediation Project providing free mediations to litigants at the Royal Courts of Justice. I have built strong links within my local community where I volunteer as a conflict coach and mediator.
I am a Middle Temple advocacy trainer, pupil supervisor and facilitator/trainer, and a Middle Temple mentor.
Alongside my professional life I volunteer for TACT Care, an adoption and fostering agency, where I mentor prospective adopters and foster parents. I also volunteer with the Homeless outreach team at my local church.
What my clients say
Jacqueline receives instructions under the direct access scheme. She was recently briefed to represent a Tier 1 Migrant at his appeal against the decision of the Secretary of State refusing him leave to remain.
"What I liked about Jacqueline was her accessibility. I was able to call her at any time during the week and if she was in court she would always return my calls. She advised me on the requirements for preparing my appeal, helping me every step of the way. She prepared the witness statements, chronology, and skeleton arguments for the appeal bundle, and represented me at the hearing. My appeal was allowed. Apart from the fact that I didn’t have to pay a solicitor, I also received advice and assistance direct from a barrister. I have to say she made it seem so effortless. I will certainly recommend her to all my friends! "
